QUIAPO CHURCH DISASTER PREPAREDNESS AND RESPONSE MINISTRY

The DPRM was organized to respond to the needs of the disaster-affected communities and the pre-identified vulnerable parishes and dioceses based on scientific data and disaster risk assessment methodology. The ministry develops and strengthens partnership with the government, NGO’s and private agencies, and institutions. They also identify high risk areas and households vulnerable to disaster through a comprehensive hazard, vulnerability and capacity assessment. They also help in the improvement of the resilience of communities through preparedness, prevention, mitigation and advocacies.

The ministry conducts scientific and technical:

  • Community Risk Mapping
  • Geographic Information System (GIS)
  • Assessment and Monitoring
  • Early warning system (EWS) i.e. text blast

The ministry also serves as a resource and training center to other communities.  On-going formation and training of staff is undertaken regularly.
