In the Gospel of Luke (17:5–10), the apostles pleaded with the Lord, saying, “Increase our faith.” Jesus replied, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you.”
This passage became the heart of reflection for Danilo Molo, HDN-MBBN team leader during the Dalaw Nazareno at San Pancracio Parish in Caloocan, on October 1, 2025. He compared the faith of every believer to a tiny mustard seed—so small, yet full of potential to grow, take root, and bear fruit in God’s time.
“Ang binhi ng mustasa ay maliit lamang,” (the mustard seed is very small) he shared, “ngunit kapag ito’y inalagaan at lumago, napakalaki ng nagiging bunga nito.” (But when it is cared for and grows, it produces a very large yield.) Danilo reflected that faith, no matter how small, has the power to move hearts and transform lives when nurtured with perseverance and trust in the Lord.

“Kailangan ay may paniniwala, pagsusumikap, at pagsunod sa kalooban ng Diyos upang ito ay yumabong o lumago,”(We must have faith, perseverance, and obedience to God’s will for it to flourish and grow.) True faith, he added, is not only expressed through prayer or ritual but also through everyday choices—through kindness, patience, humility, and love for others.
As he concluded his reflection, Molo described faith as personal and dynamic journey, a commitment that calls each one to be faithful, authentic, and apostolic. Just as the small mustard seed becomes a great tree, so too does faith—when nurtured with sincerity—become a source of strength, hope, and inspiration for others.

In the presence of Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno, Danilo found a profound reminder: that even the smallest seed of faith can move mountains, heal wounds, and change lives—when entrusted to the hands of God.
Service: A Sacred Privilege
Brother Joseph Verdadero, HDN Supervisor, expressed his joy in seeing some of the escorts share their personal reflections in deeper and more meaningful ways. For him, serving in the Dalaw Nazareno is more than simply fulfilling duties or following an itinerary. It goes beyond assisting devotees, cleaning the Callejero, or ensuring the smooth flow of the visit, it is a sacred privilege.
He described the experience in a three-day pilgrimage is a moment of grace to be in the presence of Jesus Nazareno, a gift that should be treasured and lived out each day through reflection and action. He added that this opportunity also serves as spiritual training for the Hijos del Nazareno, encouraging them to reflect on and share how the Dalaw Nazareno deepens their faith.
Brother Joseph hopes that Danilo’s reflection will inspire other HDN escorts to open their hearts and share their own experiences—stories that move, strengthen, and deepen their devotion to Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno.

About the Dalaw Nazareno
The Dalaw Nazareno is a program of the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno (Quiapo Church), created to bring the image of Jesus Nazareno to communities and parishes—especially to those who cannot make the journey to the church.
It offers the faithful an opportunity to encounter the Lord up close, deepening their devotion and renewing their faith. Each Dalaw Nazareno is accompanied by five dedicated Hijos del Nazareno, who serve as escorts, caretakers, and guardians of the sacred image, ensuring its safety and reverence throughout the visit.
Closing Thought
In every Dalaw Nazareno, faith takes root in the hearts of those who serve and those who receive. Like the mustard seed that grows into a great tree, faith when nurtured through service and prayer—bears fruit that brings hope, healing, and love to the community.
