Rev. Fr. Jesus Madrid Jr., former parochial vicar of the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno, delivered his formation this Parish-Wide Recollection on Jun 25, 2024, at 7:00 P.M. at Quiapo Church with the theme of: “Shrine as a Place of Welcome”.
Throughout his speech, Rev. Fr. Madrid Jr. gave six points to ponder on what a shrine is to different organizations serving the church and, likewise, to the devotees coming to Quiapo Church. According to him, a shrine is a place, where: ‘we encounter Jesus’, ‘God transforms our heart’, ‘gives us hope’, ‘extends his helping hand to the needy’, and ‘God sustains us and comforts us’.

Towards the last part of his speech, he gave key highlights on how to serve in the shrine appropriately: openness of self to the will of the Lord, be approachable and treat equally as how God does the same to us, show respectfulness and be holy to see Jesus in the people. He concluded with this phrase “May you become the living shrines of God’s presence”. Using his sense of creativity, Fr. Madrid incorporated some catchy words from one of the most famous songs by Bini, all girls Philipine pop band, entitled “Pantropiko” to relate it to the formation topic.
Rev. Fr. Jesus Madrid Jr. was ordained priest at the Manila Cathedral on December 2, 2023, and was first assigned at Quiapo Church from July 2023 as deacon and extended up to May 2023 following his ordination as priest. At present, he is assigned as parochial vicar of the Immaculate Concepcion Parish at Tayuman, Manila. Also, Rev. Fr. Madrid Jr. is also the owner of [t]his Facebook page, “Tularan si Jesus” as his namesake modern evangelization podcast.
