The whole community of the Quiapo church joyously celebrated the 26th Sacerdotal Anniversary of Rev. Fr. Rufino C. Sescon Jr., Basilica-Shrine rector and parish priest during the 10:00 A.M. mass on September 19, 2024, at the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno.
“Every anniversary is a day when we remember God’s grace” as quoted by Rev. Fr. Jonathan Noel Mojica, parochial vicar to Fr. Sescon Jr., whom he described as ‘present of God to the community’. Just like how Fr. Sescon first presented himself to serve the Lord and now at Quiapo church. Being the shepherd and (fellow) pilgrim of Quiapo, Fr. Sescon’s vision is for the devotees to experience hope inside the church. Under his guidance and leadership, Fr. Sescon Jr. hopes to draw us closer to faith and hope in the Lord here at this shrine and “be a remembrance of God’s grace, generosity and hope”.

Towards the end of the mass, Rev. Fr. Sescon Jr. expressed gratitude to his family, friends, loved ones and also to the Quiapo church staff and everyone else, who have been part of his journey of priesthood for twenty-six years. Also, he highlighted this national shrine’s plan of building its own museum, where everything about the history and culture of Quiapo church and the Black Nazarene will be visibly displayed. Also, technically a requirement under the updated policies and procedures for national shrines as released by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines.
After the mass, a simple feast is prepared for all the family, friends, loved ones and the Quiapo church staff.
All prayerful congratulations on your twenty-six years of priesthood journey. May the blessings and grace of Jesus of Nazareth be with you as you continue to guide and accompany us towards being a true devotee of Jesus. Filled with love from you MBNSJN community!
