Quirino Grandstand, Manila Philippines – January 9, 2026
Before the first light of dawn broke over Manila, the annual Traslación of Jesus Nazareno formally commenced at exactly 4:00 a.m., following the Solemn Panalangin sa Bukang-Liwayway offered at the Quirino Grandstand. Early morning, thousands of barefoot and kneeling devotees stood united in prayerful anticipation, entrusting their intentions, sufferings, and hopes to Jesus Nazareno as the sacred journey of Nazareno 2026 began.

The opening of the procession was formally led by the Procession Committee under the leadership of HDN Central Balangay Chairman Toto Tan, whose months of careful preparation were evident from the very first steps of the route. With the unified efforts of the various Balangays, the Hijos del Nazareno, the Pulis ng Panginoon, and countless dedicated volunteers, the procession moved forward with discipline, reverence, and order. This collective commitment ensured a steady and peaceful flow of the procession as it progressed toward the Katigbak area, marking a strong and promising start to one of the country’s most religious undertakings.

Setting an 15-hour target duration, the Procession Committee sought not merely to shorten time, but to enhance safety, order, and the overall experience of devotion. Through strategic planning, route management, and strengthened coordination, the early hours of the procession reflected the effectiveness of the reforms implemented—demonstrating that faith, when matched with responsibility and preparation, can move forward with both fervor and prudence.

The traditional Pahalik at the Quirino Grandstand continued uninterrupted, accommodating thousands of devotees eager to venerate the image. Due to the overwhelming turnout, the Pahalik was extended on 10:00 a.m. on January 10, 2026, allowing more faithful to participate in the centuries-old devotion.

Simultaneously, the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno remained a sanctuary of grace, as 33 Holy Masses continued throughout the celebration. From dawn until night, the faithful streamed into Quiapo Church—some seeking healing, others offering gratitude, and many simply surrendering their lives anew to Christ carrying the Cross.

In prayer, sacrifice, and unwavering hope, the Nazareno once again drew a people together—walking not only through the streets of Manila, but through a shared journey of faith.
