Manila, Philippines — January 7, 2026.
Thousands of devotees, gathered at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila to participate in the annual “Pahalik”, a traditional & devotional rite honoring the revered image of Jesus Nazareno. The event forms part of the nationwide celebration of the Feast of the Jesus Nazareno, drawing pilgrims from across the country in a profound expression of faith and prayer.

Devotees from various parts of Metro Manila and nearby provinces patiently queued for hours for the opportunity to touch or kiss the sacred image, believing it to be a source of healing, strength, and answered prayers.

The traditional Pahalik officially commenced on January 7, following a Eucharistic Celebration offered in thanksgiving for the volunteers serving in the Nazareno 2026 festivities.

This year, organizers introduced changes to the flow of devotees during the Pahalik. Devotees were directed to enter and exit through the Kalaw side of the Quirino Grandstand, instead of the usual Katigbak side. The adjustment was implemented to prevent crowd congestion along Katigbak Drive, which is part of the procession route.

Church authorities and event organizers emphasized that the revised arrangement aims to ensure smoother crowd movement and enhance public safety, particularly amid the anticipated surge of devotees. These measures reflect ongoing efforts to balance the faithful’s deep devotion with effective crowd management during one of the country’s largest religious gatherings.

The Pahalik ends January 10, when the time Andas of Jesus Nazareno arrived at Quiapo Church around 10:50 in the morning.
