Far from the usual set of clergy speakers for every parish-wide formation activity, this September’s Parish-Wide formation gave a different twist with the presence of Ms. Cherry Pie Picache, one of ABSCBN’s most famous veteran actress, as the invited speaker for the 7:00 P.M. formation on September 24, 2024, with the topic entitled “Shrine as Place where we Receive Mercy”.
“Paulit-ulit po tayong nagkakasala pero ang Diyos paulit-ulit niya rin tayong patatawarin, dahil paulit-ulit niya tayong mamahalin” (We commit sins repetitively, but the Lord will always forgive us because he always loves us) as this is inspired from the tragic death of her mother 10 years ago at the hands of the assailant, Mr. Michael Flores. Throughout the talk, she bravely recalled the struggles, difficulties and challenges that tested her faith during the first years after her mother’s death. Although the criminal was arrested and imprisoned, she shared how it was life-changing for her from questioning the rationale for taking away her mother and demanding justice to now advocating for a restorative justice with the concept of radical love and forgiveness in the context of mercy.
Ms. Cherry Pie Pichache aka the legendary ‘Marites’ and the “pambansang” (national) wife of the fictional character ‘Rigor’ topbilling this famous action series of ABSCBN: FPJ’s Ang Batang Quiapo starred and directed by none other than the director / Primetime King of Action, Mr. Coco Martin.
