Quiapo, Manila – Three hundred (300) beneficiaries received free health check-up services during the medical mission of Unilab & Ritemed in partnership with Caritas Manila and the City Health Office of Manila at Barangay 384, Muslim Town in Quiapo Manila headed by Chairman Khalil Sharief Pundoma this June 25, 2023. The Minor Basilica and Archdiocesan Shrine of the Black Nazarene collaborated in this program activity through the coordination with Muslim town led by the Ecumenism & Interreligious Dialogue Ministry and the distribution of relief donations by members of both the Social Services & Development Ministry (SSDM), Disaster Preparedness and Response Ministry (DPRM) led by Rev. Fr. Hans Magdurulang, as the priest in charge of both departments.

This healthcare community initiative was also participated by star-studded casts of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo series headed by Mr. Coco Martin, also known as ‘Tanggol’ in the series. Together with the whole cast, he expressed his sincerest gratitude to the people for their full continuous support in all their projects being done. Hence, this medical mission served as giving back to the community, especially for Muslims, in light of the fact that Quiapo is and will always be attributed to his consistent career progression as an artist and, personally, as a devout Nazareno follower.

Overall, this medical mission is also about being in one with our Muslim brethren and including them in our prayers as the journey of building a harmonious co-existence with them through peaceful dialogues and other initiatives that will always speak volumes of a greater shared sense of cultural values and identity. In the spirit of Eid Al Adha (Feast of the Sacrifice), let us continue praying for goodwill and blessings of happiness for our Muslim friends and families.
