March 26, 2023, as part of the spiritual preparation in observance of the Lenten season as the Holy Week, is already fast approaching, Quiapo Church observed the Grand Stations of the Cross led by the Rector and Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Rufino C. Sescon, Jr., together with the priest-in-charge of the Liturgy, Rev. Fr. Jonathan Noel Mojica. The event started inside the church, where the first station of the cross was recited, then followed by the thirteen succeeding stations located at various Barangays under the jurisdiction of Quiapo Church as a parish.
The Grand Stations of the Cross lasted three hours from 1:30 pm up to 4:30 pm under the excruciating heat of the sun as the congregation of about 500 people participated from the parishioners and volunteers from various ministries and organizations of the Quiapo Church: Prayer and penance are indeed observed during the activity where everyone was invited to meditate on the passion, death, and resurrection of Christ.
Challenging as it may seem, however, the said activity serves as a fulfillment, especially for the new administration of the Quiapo Church since this would be their first holy week celebration with their new community. Thus, this is not only an opportunity for them to reinternalize the Paschal Mystery of Christ in this holiest season in the Catholic celebrations but also to walk along with the people they ought to accompany in the spirit of their priestly ministry.
