EMBRACING RESPONSIBILITY: THE POWER OF SOCIAL MEDIA IN QUIAPO CHURCH’S MISSION

Jan. 02, 2026 07:31 PM

Quiapo, Manila – December 30, 2025

“With great POWER comes great responsibility.” These iconic words, echoed by Fr. Ramon Jade Licuanan, Rector and Parish Priest of Quiapo Church, resonate deeply within the Social Communication Ministry of Quiapo Church. As stewards of the church’s vast digital presence, the ministry is reminded that immen se influence carries a weighty moral obligation – to use this power ethically, responsibly, and for the greater good.

Fr. Jade drew parallels between the wisdom of Spider-Man’s mantra and the church’s mission in the digital age. He highlighted three critical pillars that underscore the ministry’s role in spreading the Gospel:

PLATFORMS. Quiapo Church boasts an extensive array of social media channels – TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, YouTube, a mobile app, X, a website, and LED screens – collectively reaching over 5 million followers. This unparalleled engagement is a testament to the church’s potential to impact lives, but it also underscores the gravity of responsibility that comes with it.

PEOPLE. The church is blessed with talented staff and volunteers, equipped with the skills and passion to execute impactful projects. Their competence and dedication are vital assets in the mission to evangelize.

CONTENT. This, Fr. Jade emphasized, is where the ministry must focus. While Masses are a cornerstone of evangelization, they are but one part of a broader mission. The question echoes: What good is vast engagement if the content shared fails to inspire, educate, or uplift?

The completion of the Green Room Studio, blessed by Fr. Jade himself on December 30 with dedicated volunteers, marks a significant milestone. This timely blessing, just before the Thanksgiving procession, sets the stage for a new era in content creation. The studio will be activated ASAP, with the aim of producing impactful content before the Nazareno 2026 festivities.

Fr. Jade’s message was clear. The true measure of influence lies not in numbers, but in the purposeful use of that influence to serve others. As the ministry moves forward, the call is to seek wisdom from God in crafting content that resonates with the world’s needs, fostering a digital presence that reflects the love and teachings of God.

Indeed, “with great power comes great responsibility”, this is a call to accountability – a reminder that those entrusted with significant platforms must act with intention, ensuring their actions benefit others and contribute to the greater good. For Quiapo Church’s Social Communication Ministry, this is more than a call but a mission to maximize their reach, guided by compassion, faith, and the timeless message of hope.
