There’s a unique sense of satisfaction that comes from using something we’ve made with our own hands, especially when it’s for a noble purpose like devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. The act of creating a rosary, a sacred tool for prayer and meditation, is a labor of love that requires patience, dedication, and devotion.
In celebration of the Month of the Holy Rosary, the Formation Ministry of Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno organized a meaningful Catechism, a Rosary Making Workshop at the Evangelization Office on October 3, 2025. This event brought together the Junior Catechists Association (JCA) and Volunteer Catechists (VolCat) of Quiapo Church, who were guided by the skilled facilitators from the church’s formation team.

The workshop was more than just a craft-making activity; it was an opportunity for the participants to deepen their understanding of the rosary’s significance in their spiritual lives. As they carefully crafted each bead, they reflected on the mysteries of the rosary and the importance of prayer in their daily lives.
The event culminated in a beautiful moment of devotion as the participants recited the Holy Rosary together before the image of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary.

A Legacy of Faith and Tradition
The tradition of making rosaries is a testament to the power of faith and the importance of passing on values to future generations. By teaching children and young generation the value of handmade rosaries, we instill in them a sense of reverence and appreciation for the sacred. As they grow in faith, they will cherish the rosaries they’ve made and continue to pray with them, creating a legacy of devotion that will be passed down to their own children and grandchildren.

The Joy of Creating Together
Beyond the spiritual benefits, the rosary-making activity also brought joy and camaraderie to the children. Working together, sharing materials, and laughing with one another, they experienced the value of friendship and community. These moments of fun and collaboration are just as important as the spiritual lessons, as they help build strong bonds and create lasting memories.

Quiapo Church’s Commitment to Catechesis
Quiapo Church is committed to nurturing the faith of children and young people through various catechetical activities. Regularly organized events such as rosary making, painting, watercolor, and other engaging activities aim to boost the spiritual growth of children in the community. By providing a supportive environment, Quiapo Church empowers children to develop a deeper relationship with God and fosters a sense of community and belonging.
“May our hands create what our hearts desire, and may our prayers be the reflection of our love for God and our devotion to Mary”.
