On December 7, 2024, the community of the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno celebrated with a 10:00 A.M. thanksgiving mass for the newly ordained priest, Rev. Fr. Edward Jay San Diego and deacon, Rev. Richard Anthony Lim. The mass was concelebrated with Rev. Fr. Rufino C. Sescon Jr., Basilica-Shrine rector and parish priest, and, now, bishop-elect of the Diocese of Balanga, Bataan together with his parochial vicars, Rev. Frs. Robert Arellano, LRMS, Cristopher Crucero, LRMS and Jonathan Noel Mojica. Together are the other priests from the Archdiocese of Manila.

In the homily, Rev. Fr. Madrid gave five points for Rev. Fr. San Diego to carry out as he starts his priesthood ministry. The first is to go to the place, where we can cling on to whenever trials are taking place. That is in the house of Jesus, the Nazarene.
The second point is become the face of hope, love and compassion just like Jesus of Nazareth. This is so that people will have someone to link or run into when they are experiencing challenges in faith and spirituality.
The third point is become the priest, who can always give life and strength to the ministry, even in the face of being “broken” as the life of a priest becomes demanding on a daily basis.
The fourth point is to search for the lost and missing children of God so that they will return to the righteous path.
The fifth and the last point is to make those who are small and forgotten feel the most important at the heart of the Lord and forever.

In the last part of the mass, bishop-elect Rev. Fr. Sescon Jr. reminded his fellow elected clergies to be the ‘heart of the Nazarene’ to the people entrusted to them.
Also, both Rev. Lim and Rev. Fr. San Diego, newly ordained deacon and priest, respectively, gave their messages of gratitude to their families and friends and to the Quiapo church community for the wholehearted support to achieve the dream of being part of the order of diaconate and presbyters.
May Jesus, the Nazarene bless you both as you begin your respective ministries. A prayerful congratulations, Rev. Fr. Edward Jay San Diego and Rev. Richard Anthony Lim.
