A GRACE-FILLED CELEBRATION: CARDINAL ADVINCULA LEADS CHRIST THE KING MASS OF SAN JOSE DE TROZO VICARIATE

Nov. 27, 2025 05:43 PM

Manila Philippines – November 22, 2025
The Vicariate of San José de Trozo joyfully celebrated the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe with great reverence and unity as the faithful gathered on Sunday for a special Eucharistic celebration presided by His Eminence, Jose F. Cardinal Advincula, Archbishop of Manila. The celebration was held at the historic San Sebastian Church, renowned for its basilica beauty and deep spiritual heritage. This year’s Christ the King celebration carried a profound theme of renewed mission, calling the faithful to enthrone Christ as King—both in personal lives and in society—through faith, justice, and service. The event drew parishioners and religious groups from all communities under the Vicariate, highlighting the strong sense of communion among the parishes of San José de Trozo.

The Mass presided by Cardinal Advincula became the spiritual heart of the event. In his homily, the Cardinal reminded the faithful that Christ’s kingship is not defined by worldly power, but by humility, sacrificial love, and service—a model that Christians are called to follow in their families, workplaces, and communities. He emphasized the role of every parishioner in building a society rooted in compassion and justice, stressing that proclaiming Christ as King goes beyond the celebration itself and must be lived out in daily life. The celebration was also graced by priests from the different parishes within the Vicariate, symbolizing unity and shared pastoral mission.

After the Eucharistic celebration, the faithful participated in a solemn and deeply moving procession of the Blessed Sacrament. The procession began at the Minor Basilica of San Sebastian, where the monstrance holding the Sacred Host was lifted high amidst incense and hymns of adoration. The route—filled with candles and prayerful silence—passed through the streets of Manila as hundreds of devotees walked in reverence, expressing their faith in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist. Families, youth ministries, religious organizations, and parish delegations joined shoulder-to-shoulder, transforming the streets into a living testimony of faith. The procession culminated at the Recently Proclaimed Minor Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar and National Shrine of the Blessed Sacrament commonly known as Sta. Cruz Church, another historic and spiritually significant parish in the Archdiocese of Manila. Upon arrival, the Blessed Sacrament was enthroned on the altar, followed by a period of solemn Benediction, allowing the faithful to continue their silent worship and thanksgiving.

This year’s Christ the King celebration within the Vicariate of San José de Trozo stood as a powerful reminder that the Church is a pilgrim people, journeying together under the kingship of Christ. The collaboration among parishes, the leadership of Cardinal Advincula, and the prayerful participation of the faithful all reflected the vibrant spirit of synodality being lived out in the Archdiocese. As the liturgical year draws to a close, the celebration strengthens the resolve of the faithful to enter the new Church year with renewed hearts—ready to proclaim Christ as King not only through words but through acts of charity, unity, and service.

In Faith, Unity, and Love for Christ the King

The celebration from San Sebastian Church to Sta. Cruz Church will long be remembered as a moment of grace—a public witness of Eucharistic devotion and a renewing reminder that Christ reigns forever, guiding His people with love, mercy, and truth.
